Privacy Policy

Nibbl Privacy

Effective date: 19 May 2026

Overview

Nibbl is a food and drink diary app. This policy explains what information Nibbl handles when you use the Android app, the Nibbl website, shared diary links, the waitlist, and the self-hosted backend at nibbl.z2hs.au.

Developer and privacy contact: Nibbl is operated from nibbl.z2hs.au. Privacy questions, deletion requests, or parent and guardian requests can be sent through the developer support contact listed on Nibbl's Google Play store listing.

Information Nibbl Collects

Nibbl may collect or store food and drink diary entries you create, including photos, background-removed cutouts, titles, categories, cafe names, caffeine amounts, dates, and notes you add.

If you grant location permission, Nibbl may use your device location to suggest or save a location or cafe hint for a diary entry. Location permission is optional.

Nibbl may store profile details you choose, such as display name, friend tag, profile photo, friend names, and friend avatars.

When your app registers with the backend, Nibbl creates a device identifier and authentication token so your device can sync entries and create share links. The backend stores a hash of the token, not the raw token.

If you join the waitlist, Nibbl stores the email address you submit and the page source of the signup.

Nibbl does not collect contacts, phone numbers, SMS, call logs, microphone recordings, advertising ID, precise device identifiers such as IMEI or IMSI, or an inventory of other apps installed on the device.

Photos and Camera

Nibbl uses camera and photo access only so you can create diary entries from photos you take, choose, or share into the app. Background removal is performed for the app experience, and saved images may sync to the Nibbl backend when syncing or sharing is enabled.

Sharing

When you create a public day link, anyone with that link can view the synced food and drink entries for that calendar day. Shared pages can include photos, display name or friend tag, titles, cafe or location text, categories, and related entry details.

Friend invite links can include your chosen friend tag and display name so another Nibbl user can add you.

How Information Is Used

Nibbl uses information to save and display your diary, sync entries across the backend, generate share pages, show app statistics, manage friend tags, operate the waitlist, protect the service, and diagnose reliability issues.

Third Parties

Nibbl uses Android, Google Play services, Google Play Billing, and on-device ML Kit components for app features such as permissions, billing, location services, and subject segmentation. These services may process data according to their own policies.

Nibbl does not sell personal information. Nibbl does not use diary photos, location data, child data, or waitlist emails for third-party advertising.

Security

Nibbl uses HTTPS for communication with the hosted service. Synced device tokens are stored as hashes on the backend. Backend data is stored in Postgres and object storage controlled by the Nibbl operator.

Data Retention and Deletion

Diary data is stored locally on your device until you delete it or remove the app. Synced diary data, images, device records, share links, share visit records, and waitlist emails are retained while needed to provide Nibbl features, operate the service, and prevent abuse.

You can delete diary entries in the app. To request deletion of synced backend data, public share data, device registration data, profile data, or a waitlist email, contact the Nibbl operator through the developer support contact listed on the Google Play store listing. Some limited records may be retained when required for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or service operations.

Your Choices

You can choose not to grant camera or location permissions. You can delete diary entries in the app. You can avoid creating public share links if you do not want a diary day to be publicly viewable by link.

Age Requirement

Nibbl is intended for adults 18 and older. Nibbl is not directed to children, and children under 13 should not use Nibbl or submit personal information to Nibbl.

Nibbl does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child provided personal information to Nibbl, contact the Nibbl operator through the developer support contact listed on the Google Play store listing to request review or deletion.

Changes

This policy may be updated as Nibbl changes. The effective date above will be updated when the policy changes materially.
